Vet Camp Registration is now OPEN for 2026!

We’re excited to welcome future veterinarians to our 2026 Vet Camp at our beautiful new hospital at 101 Post Office Drive, Indian Trail! Campers will enjoy hands-on learning, behind-the-scenes experiences, more animal visitors, and fun new activities designed to inspire a love of animal care and veterinary medicine.

New for 2026

  • Saturday sessions will overlap with hospital business hours, allowing students to observe a working veterinary hospital and real patient care.
  • More animal visitors and expanded interactive activities.
  • New learning experiences and hands-on opportunities.

Space is limited for each session, and camps typically fill quickly.

What Campers Will Experience

Elementary & Middle School Sessions

  • Learn safe interaction with dogs and cats
  • Hands-on experience with animal guests
  • Behind-the-scenes hospital tour
  • Tour of Vet-REC Rehabilitation Clinic
  • Learn which common foods and products are toxic to pets
  • Examine X-rays and learn about surgery and procedures
  • Practice using common veterinary tools and equipment
  • Veterinary-themed crafts and activities
  • Carolina Wildlife Rescue presentation with animal visitors

Middle School & High School Sessions (Advanced Learning)

  • Safe animal handling and interaction skills
  • Hands-on experience with animal guests

  • “Solve the mystery case” diagnostic activity with microscope work
  • Animal careers discussion
  • Practice using veterinary tools and equipment
  • Hospital and rehabilitation facility tours

Camp Leadership

Camp Director — Rachel Tate

Rachel began working at Indian Trail Animal Hospital at age 16 and now serves as Veterinary Assistant and Vet Camp Director. She is pursuing a Biology degree at NC State University and plans to attend veterinary school.

Owner of Indian Trail Animal Hospital and Vet-REC Rehabilitation & Exercise Clinic, Dr. Tabony has over 20 years of experience in veterinary medicine and more than 10 years of Vet Camp leadership. She is passionate about inspiring the next generation of animal care professionals.
