Veterinarian
Dr. Lorraine Pennea grew up in Florida where her love of animals took her to the standardbred and thoroughbred racing industries. She attended college at the University of Florida where she obtained an animal science degree with high honors as well as her DVM degree.
After a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery she moved to Charlotte and has practiced small animal care since. She was the medical director of a large 24-hr care facility, where she spent 10 years training new graduate interns and developed exceptional skills in emergency and critical care before moving to the SC beaches to work exclusively emergency in a specialty hospital.
She joined Indian Trail Animal Hospital in early 2023 after returning from Australia where she practiced at a mixed animal practice and explored the great continent.
When not at the office, Dr. Pennea spends as much time as she can with her beloved aging mother, her partner Andy, and her Sphynx cats.
